I watched the Wanda Sykes special on Netflix and it was pretty good. I enjoyed it. I stayed awake the whole time, which honestly tells you a lot right there. I tend to doze off during comedy specials if they are not landing, and I have sat through a few that just could not hold my attention past the first few minutes. Katt Williams had a recent special that I just could not get through. It was slow, it was flat, and I tapped out early. Frankly, it sucked.
Wanda Sykes kept me engaged from start to finish. She does what the best comedians do, which is blend personal material with broader observations about what is going on in the world right now, and she does it in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Nothing felt like a lecture. It felt like a conversation, and a funny one at that.
If you are a fan of stand up comedy and you are looking for something to watch, the new Wanda Sykes special is a solid pick. She delivered.
