I was in the locker room changing when I noticed two guys with tripods set up, filming themselves in the mirror. I walked over and let them know I was about to change, and that my backside would be exposed. I said it in a friendly but very clear way. I had no intention of ending up in any of their videos or photos online.
They assured me they had stopped recording and that the phone was angled so no one else would appear in the frame. I repeated that I did not want to be in any footage, and if I was, there could be serious legal consequences. I kept it light, almost joking, but I was dead serious, and I think they understood.
I get that people like to snap a quick pic in the gym or even in the locker room after training. It’s not allowed, but if you’re going to do it, make sure no one else is in the shot, especially if they are naked or exposed. I did not approach these guys aggressively, and I wasn’t trying to start anything, but I will not be made the butt of someone’s joke in that situation. See what I did there?
Not only is it against gym policy, it is also illegal. If I ever found a video of me out there, I would pursue legal action to the fullest extent of the law.

Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
