Why I Canceled Claude Pro After Less Than a Week

Laptop desk

I gave Claude Pro a real shot. Paid for a month, used it consistently, and ultimately canceled before the week was out. The core issue was stability. The app drops conversations mid session more than it should, and when you are paying for a tool you expect it to hold up under normal use.

The frustration was not about what Claude can do. From a writing standpoint it is genuinely impressive, and when the conversation flows without interruption it is hard to beat. The problem is getting there consistently. I would submit a post for review, the app would accept it, then drop, then come back without ever delivering the output. That kind of experience wears on you fast, especially when money is involved.

I still have access through the end of the billing period so I am using that time to run some tests with Cowork on my desktop to see if a different setup changes the experience. If the instability is tied to the mobile app specifically, that is worth knowing before I make any decisions.

I am also going to spend more time with Gemini and may circle back to ChatGPT to compare where things stand now. The AI writing space has moved fast and it has been a while since I did a real side by side.

The bottom line is that a tool is only as good as its reliability. Potential means nothing if the connection drops before you get the output.
