This is a place that my fiancée and I visit for dinner whenever we are in Flushing. Out of the many places to eat, more often than not she will say to me, “Honey, do you want Vietnamese,” to which I will excitedly reply, “Yes, pork choppies, woohoo.”
Today was a day like any other at Pho Viet. The staff was not very attentive or particularly warm, and smiles were hard to come by. My hello was met with a brief response and a direct “You want something to drink?” I responded by engaging her with a polite “How are you doing today,” and managed to get a small smile out of it.
So why do we return here every single time? The price and the food! Plus, the food comes out super fast every time. You almost have to wonder how they do it.
In any case, the food is decent and reasonably priced. I usually get the grilled pork chops over rice or the grilled chicken over rice. My fiancée got “bo,” which is a beef and noodle soup dish and also very tasty.
We got all this for a total of $15 including tip! I will say this much, the food more than makes up for the no frills service experience.
