I have not physically trained here yet, however I still wanted to post a review based solely on my conversation with the instructor Michael Botier. I sent a text message to the number listed on the school’s website, he immediately texted me back and shortly thereafter we were on the phone having a discussion.
Mind you it was close to midnight and this gentleman took the time to call and speak with me. I felt he was forthcoming and honest, answered all and any of my questions regarding the school rates (very fair), contracts (none), and anything else I wanted to know. I respect that, most schools want to drag you in before talking to you about anything.
Upon further examination of the school’s website I am almost certain that I know Mike from my prior BJJ schools. He’s currently a purple belt and I may or may not check this out at some point. I’d really like to train at a black belt led school. Also, I recall that he had a judo base but was kind of rough when we sparred. He’d get frustrated when we went hard back in training. So I’m not sure about this spot. He could have matured as a leader, but it is a valid concern. We’ll see.
Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
