I will never stop repeating this whenever I eat in Chinatown: cheap food, basic service, good to go.
I decided to join some friends today for a last-minute Vietnamese food outing. We all arrived about the same time, sat down, and got to ordering.
I had my usual Bo luc lac, and it was as usual, although I think they were a bit light on the beef. I didn’t get much, but it was as good as it always is. I enjoyed the dish.
I also had some summer rolls that were pretty much the same as any summer rolls I’ve had. I did have the beef sausage-looking item—I can’t remember the name—but that was okay as well.
Drinks were slightly limited as expected, so I just had some Sprite. I did get a bit of a headache after eating, so I’m wondering if they use MSG or some other ingredient that might trigger my migraines. It could have just happened randomly, but I try to note what I’m eating or doing when I get a nasty headache.
The waiter wasn’t very friendly; we joked that he didn’t seem to like us or one of my friends in particular. But we understand that service levels in that area tend to be basic, and this place was consistent with that.
To sum it up for you, if you want a quick, cheap dish, then go for it.
