Saw two officers working the corner of Grand Concourse and 167th the other day. I mean really young. Probably around my son’s age or maybe even younger. I stopped to say hello and cracked a joke about how they looked like they’d just gotten their licenses. The whole exchange took maybe a minute, but I found myself telling them to take care of themselves and stay safe before I moved on. It caught my attention how young they looked in their uniforms. There’s something about seeing officers that age out there doing the job that stays with you. You worry for them. I feel the same way about our young soldiers. Too young and innocent to be in these roles and positions.
