The process of meeting a new person, depending on the circumstances can happen so fast that you don’t even remember the person’s name. It’s happened to me many times where I am introduced to someone, and because of anxiety as well as how fast and random it happens, I don’t even perceive the name. I often find myself asking, “What’s your name again?” If I’m actually interested in making a real connection.
All that being said, the first thing I notice when I meet someone new is their face, particularly their eyes. I love to look into someone’s eyes. The eyes are said to be the windows to the soul, and looking into someone’s eyes really helps me to make up my mind as to how I feel about them. The first impression. That can always change down the road, but it’s a starting point.
You can see kindness in someone’s eyes, you can see malice, you can perceive honesty and innocence. If a person is shady, you can often tell through their eyes, cruelty, compassion, and so on. When it comes to meeting new people, I have and will always first look into their eyes.
Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
