Marine Vet Receives Mortgage-Free Adapted Home After Losing Both Legs

Now this is how you honor a military veteran! The men and women who put their lives on the line deserve nothing less.

Here is more from Fox News Insider:

A Marine who lost both of his legs in Afghanistan received the keys to a brand new mortgage free home in Colorado this weekend.

Nonprofit Homes for Our Troops built the home for Gabe Martinez and his family. Martinez, a former Marine sergeant, lost his legs after stepping on a 20 pound improvised explosive device on Thanksgiving Day in 2010.

The four bedroom house features 155 special adaptations, including automatic door openers, a roll-in shower, and roll-in countertops.

It is the 166th house built in 39 states by the nonprofit. Each home averages about $430,000, and all of the funding comes from donors.

“We believe this is a moral obligation of our society to take care of our veterans,” Tim McHale, president of Homes for Our Troops, said.
