I’m not a sports fan. I don’t follow baseball, hockey, football, or basketball. I do enjoy boxing, grappling, and Mixed Martial arts fights. However, I grew up in the Bronx, and I used to jog at the track on 161st street. I trained there for years, and during those training sessions, whenever there was a game, I’d know. I would hear the people screaming, the excitement, the music, and I became a loyal supporter of the New York Yankees.
I know this may not make sense, since I really have zero interest in the sport of baseball. I find it painfully dull, but still, bruh! I support the New York Yankees! This is the duty of every able bodied man from the Bronx.
You know what though, I gotta be real with you. I was at the Culture club one night, and several drunk white dudes cornered me in the bathroom. They all had glass bottles, and were clearly interested in having a chat. I said “pardon me,” and tried to walk through. They didn’t let me pass, “Question bro.”
One of them asked me, “Hey man, what baseball team do you support?” Now this is when my humor and wit comes into play. I replied “Bro, the only team to support! What team are you with?” He responded quickly “The Mets man, why are you even asking me?” To which I replied “Hey man, you asked me, so it’s only right that I test you right back! Of course it’s the Mets, everyone knows that. The question was whether you knew it too.”
The guys look at each other, confused and nodded. “Go Mets” they all screamed! LOL. We then “pounded it out,” and they let me leave the bathroom. That was a hilarious encounter, and I found it to be a classic moment in the life of Angel. But yes, on that evening, in the interest of avoiding a drunken brawl, I betrayed my beloved Yankees.
In any case, is it only me, but do you find it highly disappointing that the Yankees would lose to a team like the Astros? That just seems wrong to me. Again, I don’t follow sports, and maybe the Astros have a strong squad this year, I don’t know. Even so, I’m terrible offended by this. The Yankees need to step up their ball game, this is unacceptable!
How do the Yankees lose to a team who had their uniform inspired by these guys?
Yankees, y’all need to stop humiliating us Bronx folks! Step your game up, step your game up! Rant over.
