Collateral

I’m very surprised that I never saw this movie before. I thought I saw it at some point as I’m a pretty big fan of Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise. Interestingly, you get to see a young, apparently not yet established Jason Statham in this film. You get to see him when he was much younger for like two seconds. I’m assuming that’s probably before he was recognized as an amazing tough guy British actor. Jada Pinkett was also in this film and she did really great in her role as well.

The story is about a cab driver who gets roped into driving around a hitman. Clearly this is not an ideal or desirable situation, but he really has no choice here. From that point on you can imagine how things proceed for Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise during this murderous adventure.

I have to say, that Cruise’s character is probably the worst, most irresponsible hit man I’ve ever seen in the history of film. This guy leaves such a mess, tons of video, dna and eyewitness evidence. Its just highly unrealistic that this dude has never been caught, even for a film. 

This film felt kind of old, especially since Jason Statham looked so damn young in this film. I’m really surprised I never saw this before. I mean I don’t remember ever seeing it and the Mrs. also didn’t recognize it at all.

That’s one of the awesome things about streaming isn’t it? How you can always come across really cool and sometimes even older awesome films. I enjoyed Collateral and I recommend watching this film even though it is from 2004. The story is still great today.
