Spoken Word Poetry: The True Cost of Violence and Loss

We need to stop the senseless loss of life
Lives are being lost, and the pain is real

What’s it all for? Their lives are gone,
Never coming back, we won’t see them anymore.
The children weep, their families mourn,
Tensions rise, the fabric’s torn.
Divisions grow, lines are drawn,
Conflict ignites, that’s what’s unfolding.
May those lost find peace,
I stand in sorrow, honoring those at rest.
Nerves are shaken, a fragile peace,
Violence erupts, and lives are released.
As loss touches every side,
Is the problem solved? No, the wounds remain.
