I’m not entirely sure why the boy scouts are looking to allow elementary school girls into their program. The name says, “Boy Scouts,” and there is another similar program for the girls called, “Girl Scouts.” So I’m not entirely sure what the hoopla is here? Maybe I’m missing something? In any case, check out this news story where a girl scout director makes a case against the change.
I do wonder if the move is driven by a financial need where the boy scouts are trying to expand? If that’s the case, I think it would make better sense to rename themselves to the “Scouts of America” and merge with the girl scout groups. Otherwise, then keep them each to their specific group.
Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
