Immortal Universe

So AMC has this new thing called the “Immortal Universe.” It is based on Anne Rice’s best selling novels, Interview with the Vampire and The Witching Hour. I am a huge fan of the both series and I followed them well into their merged series as well. I’m still reading Lestat books even to this day. Losing Anne Rice was a huge bummer for me, and I’m sure all the Vampire chronicle fans.

When I first saw the previews for Interview with the Vampire, I wasn’t too excited. The way they presented it appeared rather cheesy to me and I wasn’t really digging it. However, once I actually gave it a chance and watched it, I will admit that they won me over right away. I watched the first episode free on prime and it was really well done.

As I have read the books and seen the film many times, I was concerned with a few details they appeared to change and take liberties with. However, the way they did it and updated it to be modern day was pretty good and it actually works. They even worked the pandemic into it. LOL.

The Mayfair witches preview caught my attention as well, and I remember thinking, “Hmm, they’ll probably tie these two things up,” which they did. Louis’ family mentions the Mayfairs at a dinner table. I have to say, I don’t remember all the details of the Mayfair books, I read them so long ago, and The Witching Hour is a really, really long read. But I think from the bits I can remember that they are doing a great job with the story. I think they also gave it a bit of a modern twist as well, but it is not yet as apparent as Interview with the vampire.

Overall I am very impressed with what they have done and look forward to seeing the rest. I hope the series does well because I really would love to see the entire chronicles unfold over the next few years. Things start to get even better in Lestat and Queen of the Damned. I’d love to see how they proceed and interpret those books. Who do you think they’d get to play Akasha? Wow, I’d love to see that. I’m so excited for the rest of these series!
