In life, you never know how someone is feeling, or doing. If a person seeks to talk, spare a moment of your time and engage them in a conversation. This is particularly true when it comes to the elderly. There have been times in my life where I invite individuals who I know are alone to eat, or join at a family event. If you notice a person is lonely, your friendship could make a big difference in their life.
This man left a note saying that he took his life because he was too old and had no family. He was alone in the world, and possibly felt lonely. I don’t know his history, or what happened along the way, but maybe a cordial smile, or a brief conversation at that McDonald’s could have saved his life? There is no guarantee, but why not opt to believe that yes, it might have saved his life?
I guess the point I’m trying to make is, spare a smile and say hello, it doesn’t cost you anything. And, it could save a life!
Just a life long New Yorker sharing the journey through my lens. Please take note of a post’s date. The views I express here are subject to change and evolving as I grow and learn.
