11/30/2022, 7:38 am Angel Rodriguez 0

Back in the early 2000s, I partied hard and learned the hard way about hangovers. From late-night deli stops with Gatorade and Advil to painful mornings kneeling before the porcelain god, my journey with alcohol taught me to enjoy life sober and avoid the misery of overindulgence.

Why I Chose to Keep Using Apple Notes Despite Switching to Windows

11/30/2022, 7:02 am Angel Rodriguez 0

After months of searching, I’ve settled on Apple Notes for my iPhone and use the web client on Windows. Despite trying many apps like Notion and Evernote, nothing matches the ease of dictation and functionality I get with Apple Notes, especially since most of my writing happens on my phone.

Nightmares and Memories: Reflecting on Life and Lessons from the Trading Floor

SpineDeck 4.0 Review: Disappointing Support for Back Pain Relief

11/22/2022, 7:56 am Angel Rodriguez 0

I tried the Spinedeck hoping it would help my back pain, but it couldn’t support my weight and collapsed when I lay on it. At 220 pounds, I expected better durability. Disappointed with its performance and returning it for a refund. Not recommended.

Episode 116 – BJJ Safety, Abuse Concerns, and Changing Attitudes in the Jiu Jitsu Community
by@Angelrtalk

Some time ago, I wrote a post saying I wasn’t completely comfortable with my wife training jiu jitsu with men. The reaction from many practitioners was intense. I was called insecure, and some people insisted that abuse simply doesn’t happen in the BJJ community.

Since then, I’ve seen more and more posts and discussions acknowledging that jiu jitsu has had issues with grooming and abuse, and that these problems have existed for years. It’s been interesting to watch that shift. When I first shared my concerns, a lot of higher belts and experienced practitioners dismissed my perspective. Now, many of those same types of voices openly recognize that these problems are real.

That contrast is hard to ignore. I talk about it in more detail in episode 116.

I saw something similar during my time in the military. In environments that are heavily male dominated, with very few women, the risk of misconduct can increase. My concerns were never about insecurity. They were about awareness, caution, and looking out for the people I care about.
