My first Comicon

So after years and years of contemplating going, I finally went to my first Comicon. I had zero expectations and had no idea what to expect. However, once I arrived and saw what it was, I immediately knew that this was not for me.

Basically, it’s like any other expo that I have been to, and friends, I am no fan of expos. They are crowded, overwhelming, and frankly not pleasant. I was hoping that since this was in line with one of my biggest interests, comics, that it would be a more fun experience for me. But it wasn’t.

From the beginning it all felt messy and chaotic. None of the staff knew where anything was, and despite it apparently being easy to find, we couldn’t even find were all the cosplay people were. So from my perspective, this was basically just a bunch of booths selling comic stuff. I don’t need to buy tickets, commute and deal with huge, annoying crowds to buy comic stuff. Bruh.

Anyway, I was ready to go from the moment we arrived. My son and my wife were also not crazy about it, but they hung in there a bit. We went with two of our neighbors and they also didn’t seem super impressed with it. I don’t think I felt this way cause I’m a bit older, but I simply wasn’t feeling this event.

We met an awesome Kakashi Taisho who was so happy and excited to be there. She was giving us ideas and direction. I didn’t want to ruin her mood so I tried to match her enthusiasm while she spoke to us. However, as far as I’m concerned, this first time was enough for me. If I never go to another con in my life again, I’m okay with that.
