John Wick Chapter 4 Review: Phenomenal Action but a Bit Over the Top

03/31/2023, 2:56 am Angel Rodriguez 0

I enjoyed the movie with my son, especially the exciting action scenes, though it could have been about 30 minutes shorter. The story felt a bit off, and John Wick’s toughness is unreal. The ending was messy, but overall it’s a good film and worth watching.

Successful Vasectomy: Achieving Zero Sperm and Complete Infertility After 6 Weeks

03/31/2023, 2:37 am Angel Rodriguez 0

After six weeks and nearly 30 ejaculations post-vasectomy, I got the all-clear with zero sperm in my sample. It’s a strange feeling being officially infertile by choice, but for me, it’s the right move. Ready to move forward without worry.

Escape from Death Block 13 Review: Robert Bronzi’s Prison Drama with a Cult Following

03/29/2023, 12:38 am Angel Rodriguez 0

I recently watched a prison movie starring Charles Bronson lookalike Robert Bronzi. The plot about a corrupt warden trafficking drugs was familiar but pretty unrealistic. The acting and graphics were rough, yet I found it oddly entertaining. I’m curious to see more of Bronzi’s work.

The Funny Burger King Misunderstanding: When “Cheese” Sounds Like “Chess”

03/27/2023, 1:13 am Angel Rodriguez 0

I finally gave in and treated myself to Burger King before surgery. A young worker’s strong accent had me confused when he asked if I wanted “chess” with my burger. Took me a minute to realize he meant cheese—sometimes accents can really throw you off!

Spanish Lady Selling Candy on the Train: A Subway Encounter and Language Reflection

03/27/2023, 12:28 am Angel Rodriguez 0

A few days ago on the subway, I met a woman new to the U.S. selling candy. Her unique Spanish caught my attention, reminding me how language varies across regions. Though I couldn’t buy any candy, I hope she’s doing well and adjusting to her new life.

The Magnificent Seven (2016) Movie Review: Denzel Washington Leads a Classic Western Revival

03/27/2023, 12:07 am Angel Rodriguez 0

This 2016 western stars Denzel as a lawman who helps a town fight against a corrupt landowner. With a strong, unlikely team, they train locals to stand up and protect their homes. A great watch with familiar faces and a classic, gripping story.

I Used to Be Famous: A Heartwarming Movie About Redemption and Music

03/26/2023, 5:37 am Angel Rodriguez 0

This heartfelt movie follows a former boy band star facing tough times who forms a special bond with an autistic child through music. Their journey of self-discovery brings healing and hope. A touching story about life’s ups and downs that I highly recommend watching.

Luther Series and Movie Review: Exploring British Policing and Idris Elba’s Detective Drama

03/26/2023, 2:39 am Angel Rodriguez 0

After watching all five seasons of the BBC’s Luther, I appreciate the unique British approach to unarmed policing and the intense drama it brings. Idris Elba’s portrayal is gripping, and while you can watch the film alone, the series adds depth that’s definitely worth the time.

Episode 116 – BJJ Safety, Abuse Concerns, and Changing Attitudes in the Jiu Jitsu Community
by@Angelrtalk

Some time ago, I wrote a post saying I wasn’t completely comfortable with my wife training jiu jitsu with men. The reaction from many practitioners was intense. I was called insecure, and some people insisted that abuse simply doesn’t happen in the BJJ community.

Since then, I’ve seen more and more posts and discussions acknowledging that jiu jitsu has had issues with grooming and abuse, and that these problems have existed for years. It’s been interesting to watch that shift. When I first shared my concerns, a lot of higher belts and experienced practitioners dismissed my perspective. Now, many of those same types of voices openly recognize that these problems are real.

That contrast is hard to ignore. I talk about it in more detail in episode 116.

I saw something similar during my time in the military. In environments that are heavily male dominated, with very few women, the risk of misconduct can increase. My concerns were never about insecurity. They were about awareness, caution, and looking out for the people I care about.
